Worship and Congregational Life Committee
This committee shall be responsible for matters pertaining to worship, music, assisting with communion, and integrating new members into the life of the church. Committee members include the Pastor, musicians, council member, and may include one or more lay people. Committee shall report regularly to the council through their liaison.
Duties shall include:
• planning worship services including special music and hymns.
• managing publicity for liturgies and other events
• preparing articles in the congregational newsletter or on its website about particular services and times in the church year
• policy making (offering recommendations to council)
• evaluating regular liturgies and special events
• receiving feedback from the congregation
• coordinating with other committees
Education Committee
The education committee shall supervise the educational work in the congregation, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and such other agencies as the congregation may have for the purpose of Christian Education.
Youth Committee
This committee shall promote and guide youth activities in such a way to involve the life of this congregation as well as identify and interpret the needs of the youth. The Youth Committee shall supervise the Youth Director, reporting to Personnel Committee and ultimately church council. Youth committee shall report monthly to council, through director and/or council liaison.

Audit Committee
The Audit Committee shall audit all financial records of the congregation. They shall present a summary report to the congregation at the annual meeting, with a detailed written report to the church council.
Evangelism Committee
The Evangelism Committee shall be responsible for a program of outreach to our own membership, the unchurched, and new people in the community. They shall report regularly to the council through their council liaison.

Stewardship Committee
The Stewardship Committee understands it takes money to run the church, but stewardship is not just about the money. The Stewardship point of view is to deepen our relationships with Jesus. When we do that everything else will fall into place: taking time to reflect and pray, help educate and challenge members, caring for health, neighbors, and our earth. They shall report periodically to the council through their liaison.
Our Savior’s Endowment Fund (OSEF) Committee
This Committee will promote the fund and manage the investments in the endowment fund. They will make proposals to the council annually for the disbursement of the interest from the fund. This proposal will go to the congregation for final approval. They shall report as needed to council through their council liaison, with a written report to the congregation at the annual meeting.

Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee is one of the most important committees of the congregation. Their job is to diligently study the membership of the church to find potential candidates that are not currently serving in other positions, seeking out leaders who will guide the congregation to fulfill its mission of Jesus Christ. They should attempt to include as many families as possible in the work of the church. It shall also be the responsibility of this committee to nominate trustees for the Cemetery Association.
Luther Point Bible Camp Committee
The Luther Point Bible Camp committee shall be responsible to support Luther Point Bible Camp’s mission and ministry in the following ways:
Property Management Committee
This committee will have special responsibility for the care of the church property and will make recommendations thereon to the council. They shall report regularly to the council through liaison.

Congregation Council Member
Our Savior’s congregation
Job Status: Three-year term/two-term max
Job Summary: Election to the Congregation Council carries with it the respect and trust of the constituency of Our Savior’s Lutheran. The value of your willingness to make a contribution to the life of your congregation is significant and appreciated. Your contribution involves your time, expertise, enthusiasm and energy. The Congregation Council shall have general oversight of the life and activities of Our Savior’s, and in particular its worship life, to the end that everything be done in accordance with the Word of God and the faith and practice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties shall include:
- coordinating worship-related organizations, such as choirs, other musicians, artists, altar guild, ushers, greeters, acolytes, assisting ministers, leaders and organists.
• planning worship services including special music and hymns.
• managing publicity for liturgies and other events
• preparing articles in the congregational newsletter or on its website about particular services and times in the church year
• policy making (offering recommendations to council)
• evaluating regular liturgies and special events
• receiving feedback from the congregation
• coordinating with other committees
- Time and Talent Sheet mailed out annually in September.
Education Committee
The education committee shall supervise the educational work in the congregation, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and such other agencies as the congregation may have for the purpose of Christian Education.
- Create and mail out a reminder letter for the start of Sunday School to each Family
- Help with updating Sunday School Roster
- Recruit teachers for Sunday School. (High School Kids can earn volunteer hours)
- Plan Sunday School Christmas Program
- Review and recommend curriculum for Sunday School.
- Plan Sunday school involvement in Worship Service. (sing in church)
- Purchase and distribute children’s bibles per schedule.
- Report to council periodically through council liaison.
- Create a yearly report to Annual Church Meeting.
- Help with planning and preparation for VBS in the Summer.
Youth Committee
This committee shall promote and guide youth activities in such a way to involve the life of this congregation as well as identify and interpret the needs of the youth. The Youth Committee shall supervise the Youth Director, reporting to Personnel Committee and ultimately church council. Youth committee shall report monthly to council, through director and/or council liaison.
Duties shall include:
- Assist youth director in planning events such as: mission trip, confirmation meals and services, bible studies, Easter egg hunt, fundraisers, and service events.
- Meet regularly (Fall & Winter) to arrange & schedules programs, plan events, etc.
- Help to develop annual budget for youth programs.
- Help maintain financial records and accounting for entire youth program, as well as each individual youth account.
- Encourage and assist with youth involvement in worship services, Lutefisk supper, Pierce County Fairstand help, etc.
- Assist youth director by coordinating and participating in youth outreach ministries.
Audit Committee
The Audit Committee shall audit all financial records of the congregation. They shall present a summary report to the congregation at the annual meeting, with a detailed written report to the church council.
- The Audit Committee should use the ELCA Congregational Audit Guide to evaluate the financial records and internal controls of the congregation.
- The main Our Savior’s accounts must be audited every year.
- The other groups’ accounts are audited on a bi-annual schedule. Currently these groups are:
- Men in Mission
- WELCA
- Youth
- Endowment
- Sunday School
Evangelism Committee

- Backpacks for the weekends
- Basics for Local Kids drive
- God’s Work our Hands
- Christmas Gift Box Program for Ellsworth School District
- Moola for Milk
- New Member acknowledgement and reception
- Greeting and gifts for all worship visitors
- Shrove Tuesday celebration
- Promoting Our Savior’s programs at PC Fair and Lutefisk Supper

- Promote management of time, talents, relationships, and health.
- Encourage preaching, teaching, and celebrating generosity in the life of the church.
- Ensure emphasis on some aspect of stewardship every quarter of the church year.
- Personalize giving so members can see & pray for what their gifts are doing.
- Help members become better acquainted with their spiritual gifts, investing those gifts in the ministry of the local church community.
- Work with other committees and organizations within the congregation.
- Plan and coordinate, with Pastor and others, a stewardship education program for all ages.

- Abide by the Our Savior’s Constitution (see C17.01, .02, .03, 04) and Amendment to the Congregational ByLaws dated January 28, 1996.
- Meet at least quarterly, or more frequently as deemed by it and/or the church council as in the best interest of the congregation.
- Encourage the membership of this congregation to place gifts and/or bequests into the OSEF.
- Manage and control the assets of OSEF with execution by a delegated investment advisor.
- Determine distribution of the OSEF within the guidelines of ByLaws Section B.,1-5, recommending such to Church Council for approval by congregation.
- Work with the church council treasurer in maintaining and coordinating complete and accurate accounts, and shall authorize all fund transfers.
- Funds should be transferred to the general fund by June 30th each year.
Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee is one of the most important committees of the congregation. Their job is to diligently study the membership of the church to find potential candidates that are not currently serving in other positions, seeking out leaders who will guide the congregation to fulfill its mission of Jesus Christ. They should attempt to include as many families as possible in the work of the church. It shall also be the responsibility of this committee to nominate trustees for the Cemetery Association.
- Nominating Committee should review the constitution of the congregation to determine the positions open for election.
- Utilize the chart of current and open positions, ensuring each person on the committee is clear about open positions and current terms.
- Out of courtesy to those who are currently serving and whose term is ending, ask each person if he or she is open to being re-elected (unless he/she has served maximum term).
- Distribute job descriptions for each open position (if available).
- Select and invite people to serve, providing a job description of the position you are asking him or her to consider.
- Honor the decisions of those whom you invited to serve, thanking them for considering the request.
- Prepare updated chart of officers, council members, and committee members to be elected and approved at annual congregation meeting.
Luther Point Bible Camp Committee
The Luther Point Bible Camp committee shall be responsible to support Luther Point Bible Camp’s mission and ministry in the following ways:
- Promote attendance in Luther Point Bible Camp programs, including Summer Youth Camp, Outdoor Adventures, and Jr. & Sr. High Camps.
- Inform members of available services of Luther Point Bible Camp, including Family Cabin Rentals and the LPBC Retreat Center.
- Disseminate information concerning LPBC to the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church congregation, including any upcoming events.
- Encourage congregation members to take part in the upkeep of Luther Point Bible Camp.
- Fundraise on behalf of the camp.
- They shall periodically report to the council through their council liaison.
Property Management Committee
This committee will have special responsibility for the care of the church property and will make recommendations thereon to the council. They shall report regularly to the council through liaison.
Duties shall include:
- Work closely with custodial staff, Pastor, and council to maintain all buildings and grounds.
- Meet regularly to establish short and long range projects.
- Ensure compliance with all building codes.
- Perform regular inspection to ensure safety measures: secure hand rails, no tripping hazards, etc.
- Hire only reputable, licensed contractors when needed. Obtain approval from council.
- Monitor & Maintain the Two AED Devices.
Congregation Council Member

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be a member in good standing of the congregation, regularly attending worship services and involved in congregational life.
- Attend all meetings of the council.
- Serve as liaison to one or more congregation committees, meeting with them regularly and reporting back to council.
- Participate with one other council member to count offerings and prepare bank deposit. This is typically done on a monthly basis.
- Treat all matters relating to council deliberations as confidential, until such time as the information is determined a matter of public record.
- To lead this congregation in stating its mission, to do long-range planning, to set goals and priorities, and to evaluate its activities in light of its mission and goals.
- To seek to involve all members of this congregation in worship, learning, witness, service, and support.
- To maintain supportive relationships with the pastor and staff.
- To be examples individually and corporately of the style of life and ministry expected of all baptized persons.
- To promote a congregational climate of peace and goodwill and, as differences and conflicts arise, to endeavor to foster mutual understanding.
